Is it time to update your will and trust with Alzheimer’s San Diego?
If you care deeply about the devastating toll Alzheimer’s takes on families and want your local dollars going to support local needs, it may be time to update your will and trust. Alzheimer’s San Diego, a 501(c) (3) tax exempt (Tax ID 47-5534541) California public benefit corporation, has taken over the local programs and partnerships of the Alzheimer’s Association San Diego Chapter.
Late last year, the National Alzheimer’s Association made the decision to take over all local chapters. The San Diego Chapter Board of Directors strongly believed this move would severely jeopardize the quality of local programs and services that San Diego has relied on for more than 30 years and decided to separate from the National Alzheimer’s Association.
Several other chapters have also made the decision to leave, including ALL of Southern California. To ensure 100% of your gift stays in San Diego to help our community, it is critical that you update your trust to reflect the new independent organization, Alzheimer’s San Diego.
It is also important to share your plans with the gift planning office at Alzheimer’s San Diego in order to be certain that the language used will accurately carry out your desires. The following sample bequest provisions may be helpful in updating your estate documents:
“I give, devise and bequeath to Alzheimer's San Diego, a California public benefit corporation having California corporate number C3841875 and a federal tax exempt organization Tax ID number 47-5534541 and offices at 6632 Convoy Court, San Diego, California 92111, [percent of my estate, dollars, property, securities, etc.] to be used for [its general charitable purposes] in San Diego County.”
Note: You may allow Alzheimer’s San Diego to use your gift where it is needed most, or you may state the program for which you wish your gift to be used.
